Q1 2022 Impact Report: Our Biggest Project Yet and More!

As we turn the calendar over to March, it's important to look back and once again express our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors, partners, and players. Thanks to your support and generosity, we raised the most money in the history of Six2Six.

We have in turn made some significant donations to programs we believe will have a direct impact on communities of need. This report will highlight those organizations and the children who benefit from them.

We’re excited to announce a new partnership with Charity Ball, a global soccer charity fueled by kids, fans, and athletes who believe that giving back and playing for something bigger can make the world more beautiful. Sound familiar?

In addition to hand-delivering new soccer balls, Charity Ball coordinates “Level The Field” access to soccer, clean drinking water, and mentorship opportunities for kids in disadvantaged communities around the world.

With a mission mirrored to ours and established infrastructure in disadvantaged communities overseas, we feel Charity Ball is a worthy partner and will amplify our collective missions.

Our monetary commitment to Charity Ball is in direct support of their ongoing Level The Field initiatives in Mozambique Africa. The project is expected to impact 400 children in eight communities by providing access to soccer, clean water, mentorship, and educational opportunities.

To learn more about Charity Ball, Pass The Ball is a documentary short featuring Charity Ball founder, Ethan King and Neven Subotic, a Serbian professional footballer. The film follows Ethan and Neven to rural Mozambique where they host a “once in a lifetime” soccer event for kids in one of the poorest regions of the world.

Left, Jerseys provided for Williams Academy; Right, Williams players receiving instruction.

We continue to build on our relationship with Connecticut-based Williams Academy.

Some of you might remember Kevin Williams from our recent Six2Six when he took over the event for a well-organized skills session and scrimmage with all of the kids in attendance. This dedication to development, training, and competition is something we at Futbol Friends want to support and help grow. This year we have contributed funds to help offset the cost of jerseys for some of the kids.

Since 2018 Williams Soccer Academy has provided children ages 6 to 12, either new to the game or returning, an affordable premier soccer experience. Their focus is on preparing and training players for their recreational teams, travel teams, and/or players preparing for the rigors of premier soccer.

Bridgeport girls at a scrimmage in 2021. Their 2022 schedule will begin soon with Futbol Friends support!

In 2020, the Starbuck Foundation paired up with Bridgeport United Football Club to start a free soccer team for Bridgeport girls. They approached us for support once again this year as they have assembled a second girls team and need some help outfitting them. A second team will help them develop more quickly as they will have two teams that can practice and scrimmage together. For more information on Starbucks visit their website at: Starbuck Foundation.

2022 is off to a strong start, but as always we would love for you to send impact project ideas or requests for assistance to us. You can do so by emailing contact@futbolfriendsint.org. Keep an eye out for more news of impact from these and future projects soon!
