Q2/Q3 Impact Report: Six Project Updates

We hope that you all have enjoyed the warm weather months. As we turn the corner into the fall we welcome the beginning of a new Futbol season, and we look forward to our 15th Six2Six Tournament scheduled on Sunday, November 20, 2022!

FFI has been busy this past spring and summer supporting youth organizations at home and abroad. Below you’ll see the many ways YOU have made a difference in the lives of children around the world via your continued support of Futbol Friends International.

See six new and continuing impact projects below!

Charity Ball, Mozambique Africa

We are pleased to report continued progress from our Charity Ball project in Mozambique Africa.

Our partners at Charity Ball are leading the charge in providing 400+ Mozambique children access to soccer, clean water, mentorship, and other educational opportunities.

Mozambique is a nation of 31 million people located on the southeastern coast of Africa. A Portuguese colony for most of the 20th century, Mozambique gained its independence in 1975. Since then the people of this great nation have experienced civil wars, heightened poverty, and a struggle for national identity, but the spirit of its ethnic people has not wavered.

Ucal Mckenzie Breakaway Foundation, Hartford CT

Futbol Friends International was proud to renew our sponsorship of Ucal McKenzie Breakaway Foundations Soccer & Health Camp for over 100 children in Hartford.

The camp organizers recently reported, “In addition to soccer sessions, we held hands-only CPR and AED awareness and training, sports recovery education, a movement and mindfulness session, and a Hartford Athletic team meet and greet.”

American Friends of Kenya, Western Kenya

This summer, assistance reached the Lukuyani Football League in Kakamega County, Western Kenya. Over 30 players were provided with jerseys, shorts, socks, cleats, and regulation balls via our partners at the American Friends of Kenya.

AFK’s work in the region oversees a vibrant community library, many school improvement programs, and training programs for alienated youth.

“The football league is essential to all of these programs because it brings in the youth, strengthens their minds as well as bodies, motivates them, keeps them from engaging in destructive activities, and connects them to adult mentors in the community.”

Chloe-Young Star Association, Ghana

Aid has also reached children in the Volta Region of Ghana!

Futbol Friends assistance was focused on essentials for U-15 and U-13 boys and girls at the Adaklu Dave Salvation Army Basic School; including, jerseys, balls, and ball pumps.

Starbuck Foundation, Bridgeport CT

Our partners at the Starbuck Foundation have organized this team completely free of charge to the girls and their families.

Their coach reports that, since starting the team in 2020, girls continue to look forward to practice, are very committed to the team, and have grown in skill and confidence.

The primary goal of this team is not to win games (although, they do!) but rather to provide a healthy outlet for these girls, to teach them the values of team play, and how to react to winning and losing.

Williams Academy, Windsor CT

Last but not least a special update from our friends at Connecticut’s own Williams Academy!

“We are lucky to be associated with Futbol Friends International. They have been a willing shirt sponsor for the last 3 years, in that time our program has grown to include five teams for boys and two teams for girls. Our teams play in travel and premier leagues in and around the state of Connecticut including the CJSA travel league and EDP premier league.

At Williams Soccer Academy we have made it our mission to ensure costs are kept low and players have access to consistent good certified training and staff. With the help of like minded organizations like Futbol Friends International we will continue to grow and offer opportunities for kids to play regardless of their zip code.”
